Stages of Exam
There are three stages for the selection process of an IBPS probationary officer.
- A preliminary Examination
- A main examination – Objective + Descriptive
- A Common Interview
Age Criteria (as on 1-8-2022) -Minimum: 20 years Maximum: 30 years
Educational Qualifications – A Degree in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. of India
Structure, Mode and Syllabus
The Preliminary and Main sections of IBPS PO examination is an online objective examination with prescribed syllabus and sectional cut off marks.

Note : Candidates have to clear the sectional cut off mark decided by IBPS to clear the preliminary examination.
IBPS Probationary Main Examination
The IBPS PO Main examination is an objective online examination. In addition to the objective examination, an English language test of letter writing and essay writing skills of candidates also will be tested.

Negative Marks
For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty
The Final Cut-off Score for IBPS PO (Online Main Examination)
Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Main examination and also a minimum total score to be considered to be shortlisted for interview of IBPS PO examination.
IBPS PO Interview
Candidates who have been shortlisted in the Online Main examination for IBPS PO will be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Banks and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS.
The interview centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter.
Marks of IBPS PO Interview
The total marks allotted for Interview are 100.
The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates).
The weightage (ratio) of Online Main Exam and interview will be 80:20 respectively.
The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination and Interview.
