SSC CGL 2024 Notification out! Know the details.

SSC has notified SSC CGL 2024 which we all have been eagerly waiting for.
The highlight is the number of Vacancies for SSC CGL posts – 17,727.
The tentative vacancies will be updated in due course. Also updated vacancies along with post-wise and category-wise will be made available on the website of the commission http://ssc.gov.in in due course.
Total 34 posts are to be filled up.

Essential Educational Qualifications (As on 01-08-2024):
Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level; Or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have studied Statistics as a subject in all the three years or all the 6 semesters of the graduation course.
Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC): Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute. 8.3.2 Desirable Qualifications: 8.3.2.1 Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution; Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.
All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
The candidates who have appeared in their final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before the cut-off date i.e. 01-08-2024.
Schedule of the Exam
Tier 1 exam is scheduled to be conducted in Sep-Oct 2024
Tier 2 exam is scheduled to be conducted in December 2024
Last date of online application is 24 July 2024
Age Limit
- For the posts for which age limit is 18-27 years, Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1997 and not later than 01-08-2006.
- For the posts for which age limit is 20-30 years, Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1994 and not later than 01-08-2004.
- For the posts for which age limit is 18-30 years, Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1994 and not later than 01-08-2006.
- For the posts for which age limit is 18-32 years, Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02-08-1992 and not later than 01-08-2006.
Scheme of Tier 1 Examination
The usual sections like Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence and Reasoning, English Comprehension, General Awareness find place in Tier 1.
The allotted time is 1 hour. Each question carries 2 marks. Negative mark for wrong answers being 0.5. Total score out of 200
Scheme of Tier 2 Examination
Tier-II will include conducting of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III in separate shift(s)/ day(s).
Paper-I is compulsory for all the posts.
Paper-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Statistical Investigator Grade II in the office of Registrar General of India and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for these Posts.
Paper-III will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer
How will Paper I be conducted?
Paper-I will be conducted in two sessions – Session –I & Session-II, on same day.
Session-I will include conducting of Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III. The duration of Session-I will be 2 hours and 15 minutes
Session-II will include conducting of Module-II of Section-III, ie, data entry speed test. The duration of Session-II will be 15 minutes only
It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify all the sections of Paper-I.
Type of Questions
Tier-II (Paper-I, Paper-II & Paper-III) will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi except for English Language and Comprehension module in Section-II of Paper-I
Negative Marks
There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I (so that is 1/3) and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II and Paper-III
Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
However, while shortlisting the candidates for the posts where Computer Proficiency is prescribed i.e. Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Sciences), Inspector (CGST & Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant in Department of Post, higher qualifying standards will be set in comparison to other posts.
Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I, i.e,Data Entry Speed Test (DEST):
Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I will include conducting of a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) for a duration of 15 minutes in Session-II on the same day.
The “Data Entry Speed Test” (DEST) Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes
DEST will be mandatory for all the posts, however, it will be qualifying in nature.
Note : While shortlisting the candidates for the posts where either Computer Proficiency is prescribed or where DEST is prescribed viz. Tax Assistant in CBIC, Tax Assistant in CBDT, and UDC/ SSA in Central Bureau of Narcotics (Ministry of Finance) etc., higher qualifying standards will be set in comparison to other posts.
Computer Module Syllabus
Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I (Computer Proficiency):
Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), input/ output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back- up devices, PORTs, Windows Explorer. Keyboard shortcuts.
Software: Windows Operating system including basics of Microsoft Office like MS word, MS Excel and Power Point etc.
Working with Internet and e-mails: Web Browsing & Searching, Downloading & Uploading, Managing an E-mail Account, e-Banking.
Basics of networking and cyber security: Networking devices and protocols, Network and information security threats (like hacking, virus, worms, Trojan etc.) and preventive measures.
Very Important
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall performance of candidates in Tier-II Examination only. So that means Tier 1 is only qualifying in nature.
Mode of Selection:
Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I, Section-I, Section-II & Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II, Paper-II & Paper-III of Tier-II Examination are as follows:
UR : 30% (So that is 60 marks for Tier-1, 54 for Section-I, 63 for Section-II, 18 for Module-I of Section- III)
OBC/ EWS : 25%
All other categories : 20%
Maximum percentage of errors allowed (i.e. minimum qualifying standards) in Module-II of Section-III of Paper-I of Tier-II Examination i.e. DEST are as
UR : 20%
OBC/ EWS : 25%
All other categories : 30%
Based on the marks scored in Tier-I i.e. Computer Based Examination, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Tier-II Examination.
Separate cut-offs will be fixed for the post of Junior Statistical Officer for appearing in Paper-I & Paper-II of Tier-II, for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade-II for appearing in Paper-I & Paper-II of Tier-II and for all other posts for appearing in Paper-I of Tier-II.
