Important Dates of SSC CGL 2019
Last date of online application – 25/11/2019 (5 p.m.)
Date of Tier – I Exam – 02/03/2020 to 11/03/2020
Date of Tier – II and Tier – III Exam – 22/06/2020 to 25/06/2020
SSC CGL Exam is conducted for recruitment to 34 posts in central government. Out of these, 23 posts can be applied, by candidates not exceeding 30 years, for another 10 posts the age limit is 27 years and for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) the age limit is 32.
Qualification – Most of the posts require a Bachelor’s degree. But certain posts require additional qualification.
Posts requiring additional qualification
- Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)
Bachelor’s Degree with at least 60% in Maths at 12th std/Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
- Statistical Investigator Grade II
Bachelor’s degree in any subject with statistics as one of the subjects.
- Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO)
Essential Qualification Bachelor’s Degree.
Desirable Qualification – Chartered Accountant or Cost and Management Account or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or MBA (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics

Tier – II ⟶ Computer Based Exam
Tier – III ⟶ Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive Paper)
Tier – IV ⟶ Computer Proficiency Test/ Data Entry Skill Test/ Document Verification.

For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Exercise and Income Tax) ⟶ A speed of 8000 key depression per hour
- CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) – This Comprises three modules – Word Processing, Spread sheet and generation of slides. This is conducted for the posts of
- Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA and AFHQ
- Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO)
- Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines
- Inspector (Central Exercise)
- Inspector (Preventive Officer)
- Inspector (Examiner ion CBIC)
What’s new in the Notification
- Minimum qualifying marks for each tier and each paper has been announced. Accordingly, the minimum qualifying marks for Tier I, each paper of Tier – II and Tier – III are as follows:
UR – 30%
OBC/EWS – 25%
Others − 20%
- Generally, Tier II and Tier III exams are conducted on different dates and that too after the announcement of Tier 2 result. But this year’s SSC CGL notification has announced the intention of SSC to conduct both Tier II and Tier III in a single schedule from 22/06/2020 to 25/06/2020.
