Common Law Admission Test coaching in Kerala

Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized national level entrance test for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities in India.  The Consortium of National Law Universities consisting of the representative universities organizes the CLAT exams in India.

As much as, 43 education institutes and two public sector institutes are eligible to use these scores. The test is usually conducted by the 21 participating law schools in rotation, in the order of their establishment, starting with National Law School of India University which conducted CLAT-2008, And now up to National Law University Odisha which conducted CLAT-2019.

From 2020, the CLAT Consortium will conduct it. The Consortium has three permanent members, i.e., National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad, National Law Institute (NLIU), Bhopal and has a permanent secretariat in Bangalore in NLSIU campus.

The test is taken after the Higher Secondary Examination or the 12th grade for admission to integrate under graduation programmes in Law and after Graduation in Law for Master of Laws (LL.M) programmes conducted by these law universities. The two-hour admission test consists of objective type covering questions on Elementary Mathematics or Numerical Ability, English with Comprehension, General knowledge and Current affairs, Legal Aptitude and Legal Awareness and Logical reasoning.

Registrations are open since 1st January 2020 and will remain open until 1st July 2020. The date of examination will be announced by 1st July giving students at least 21 days’ prior notice for the exam.

CLAT COACHING IN KERALA

Eligibility

Only Indian nationals and NRIs can appear in the test. The foreign nationals desirous of taking admission to any course in any of the participating Law Universities may directly contact the concerned University having seats for foreign nationals.

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

Under-Graduate Courses

Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognised Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC and ST candidates). There is no upper age restriction for the test.

Post-Graduate Courses

LL. B/B. L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University. However, with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC and ST candidates). Also, the candidates who pass the qualifying degree examination through supplementary/ compartment and repeat attempts are also eligible for appearing in the test. And these candidates can take Admission by producing the proof, of passing the qualifying examination with fifty-five/fifty per cent marks, as the case may be, on the date of their admission or within the time allowed by the respective universities.

Exam Pattern

This law entrance exam is of two hours duration. The CLAT question paper consists of 150 multiple-choice questions. There are five sections in CLAT exam paper, wherein students need to answer questions from subjects such as:

  • English including Comprehension
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  • Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability)
  • Legal Aptitude
  • Logical Reasoning

All the questions will be paragraph based starting from CLAT 2020. Each paragraph will have 5-6 questions. Also, the breakup of marks, generally is as follows – English 30, General Knowledge:37, Mathematics:15, Logical Reasoning:30 and Legal Aptitude:38.

Marking Scheme

For every correct answer, aspirants get one mark. And for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted from their total score.
